Special Needs competition - A first for ITF in New Zealand and Oceania!

A Regional Championship was held in Hawkes Bays, New Zealand, 20th March 2010. There were close to 40 competitors, of which 17 i.e., 44% are special needs competitors, who competed in sparring, patterns and special techniques events. To our knowledge, a Championship dedicated to the special needs group is quite rare in the world as well and something our ITF group can be justifiably proud of. The championship was organised by Mr Ben Evans of Hawkes Bay with Master William Chan in charge of Umpiring. The event was covered by a National television crew for later broadcasting on New Zealand television.
