Historical First National Pro Taekwon-Do Championship in Nepal

Chawochi won the trophy with 500 US Dollar
17th April was one of the most enlightening days in the history of Nepalese Martial Art. The live teakwondo fighting had been broadcasting by one of most popular national Television Channel of Nepal, Avenues Television, from 1:30pm until 4:00 pm. The Professional Taekwon-Do fighting was in the TV Screen of Millions of Nepalese in the country as well abroad.

This is the first time, any martial art event has been broadcasting by the National Television, Live, as it happens. Nepal International Taekwon-Do Federation, one of the most popular sports federations of Nepal with its activities, has proved again, why NITF is the best. Nepal ITF organized the First National Pro. Taekwon-Do Championship in the indoor sports hall of National Sports Council. This is the first time in the history of Nepalese Taekwon-Do, the professional fighters were in the Arena and fight for the best cash price in Nepalese Contest. The winner of the Champion would win 500 us Dolor that is equivalent to 37 thousand in Nepalese Rupees.. The First Runner Up would win 300 and Second Runner Up would win 200 US Dolor respectively.

Nepal ITF starts its first step to professionalize the ITF Taekwon-Do in Nepal which would be the model for any martial art styles in future. Honorable home minister Bhim Bahadur Rawal inaugurated the Pro Taekwon-Do opening ceremony where the Chief of Nepalese Police, Chief of Armed Police force, High government officials, Vice President of National Sports Council and other sports and government Officers were presented.

Twelve selected players from different Five Development region of Nepal has been participated via two players from each reason and two players from Tribhuwan Army Club of Nepal Army. Thousands of Spectators were in the Indoor sports hall to watch the professional taekwon-do fight first time in Nepalese Sports History.

Pro Taekwondo has been played as rule of Professional Taekwon-Do of International Taekwon-Do Federation. The great and very spectacular fight were all together 12 bouts. Where Chawochi Dangol of eastern region won his all bouts and became the First Pro Taekwo-Do National Champion and grabbed 500 US Dolor in cash price. Manoj Khadka of the Central reason just loose the final bout and got the First Runner Up to grabbed 300 US Dolor cash prize where as Rajendra Dhimal of Eastern Region won 200 US Dolor by securing third place. After watching the fight, the top nepali pop singer Yogeswor Amatya has awarded 15 thousand rupees to the champion, 10 thousand to the first runner up and 5 thousand to the second runner up from himself.

The great historic event was success by the hard effort of all the members of Nepal International Taekwon-Do Federation and specially the great contribution of the NITF president Krishna Bahadur Balal and the Coordinator of the event Miss. Shanti Tamang. NITF has announced to do the second Pro Taekwon-Do in 2011 with doubling the price as the winner will got 1000 US Dolor, First Runner Up 700 US Dolor and Third Runner Up 500 US Dolor.

The First National Pro Taekwon-Do Championship has been supported by the Kathmandu Metropolitan, Rum Pum Instant Noodles, Avenues Television, National Sports Council and many more business groups and social institutions.
