General Information:
As per the instruction of Afghanistan National Olympic Committee President Mr. General Abdul Zahir Aqbar for bringing unity between different groups and strengthening of ITF taekwon-Do in Afghanistan to conduct a championship, Therefore a proposal submitted by All Afghanistan National Taekwon-Do Association as the sponsor the championship held the competition in Herat Province of Afghanistan under the name of Herat ITF taekwon-Do Championship and Unity Cup, which was on June 5, 2009 at Mirwais Shahid Gymnasium in Herat province at Western Afghanistan.

The purpose of this Championship was to bring unity between the ITF practitioners of other groups in Afghanistan. On the other hand to evaluate the All Afghanistan National Taekwon-Do Association competitors to get ready for the 16th world Taekwon-do championships, this is going to be held in Saint Petersburg of Russia in October 2009.

The participants for the championship were from two associations by the name of Yari Association which is member of All Afghanistan National Taekwon-Do Association and Ehsan Safi Association, which is member of Afghan Taekwon-Do Association.

The Technical Seminar:
Before conducting the championship a technical seminar was conducted by Eng. Mohammad Maruf Sharifzada Chairman of Umpire Committee of All Afghanistan National Taekwon-do Association for one full day on 11 June 2009. The purpose of the seminar was to practice the ITF tournament rules and awareness of the participants with the National and International ITF tournaments. Totally there were 154 students from both Associations participated in the seminar, in the mean time over all umpiring rules has explained to them.

The Competition:
The Competition started on Friday 15 June, 2009 and it was already assigned to perform only sparing not other section of competitions due to fact that 2 days has been authorized by the government to use the National Gymnasium for the seminar and competitions.

This is to be mentioned that a delegation including Master Hed Mohammad shirzai Founder and president of All national Taekwon-Do Association, Mr. Dr. Najmuddin Safi president of Afghan Taekwon-Do Association, Mr. Haji Gula Jan wafa president of Afghan Youth Taekwon-do association and member of AANTA, Mr. Houmayoun Mohammad Zada Member of ATA with other 5 umpires came from Kabul the capital of Afghanistan.

The championship has started by warmed welcomed of the guests and participants, 1 minute silence for ITF Founder General Choi Hong Hi, The Afghanistan National Anthem and demonstration of participants teams.

The competition has successfully completed by the end of the day with the perfect management of the umpire committee and refries, judge corners and jury members. At the end of the competition awards, medals, certificates are distributed to the winners and champons. In the mean time the International promotion degrees for 22 students of AANTA and Umpire A class certificates, which was already sent by the International Taekwon-Do Federation from Vienna have also submitted to the AANTA members by his Excellency Master Hed Mohammad Shirzai Founder and President of AANTA.

This is mentioning that the winner of the cup was Yari Association member of AANTA; which has successfully obtained the cup.

After the Completion of the competition AANTA has managed to invite all Herat Olympic officials and all Heads of Different Federations and Sports delegations and other government officials for a dinner served in Herat Five Stars Hotel & Restaurant.
